iPad Compatible Wireless PrintersFor iPad people on the go or around the house - especially business users - the ability to print from Apple's tablet may be needed. It wasn't until upgrades to the iOS operating system after version 4 that direct iPhone and iPad printing wirelessly was made officially possible via Apple's AirPrint technology. Additional improvements to iOS's AirPrint code, and widespread inclusion of direct AirPrint support by all the major printer manufacturers benefit iPad Air 2 / Air, iPad mini 3 / mini 2 / mini, iPad 4 / 3 / 2 owners - along with the iPhone and iPod Touch as well.

Direct wireless printing from an iPad, iPhone, or recent iPod Touch is a rather new development, not all IOS Apps know how to print - or need to. HP provides a list of _some_ AirPrint capable apps for iOS5 you may want to check out.
Other Manufacturers Supporting AirPrintBroader iPad compatible printing support from major printer manufacturers is well underway. When AirPrint printing was first introduced it seems Apple and Hewlett-Packard may had worked out an exclusive arrangement for AirPrint supported devices. Especially with the insane sucess of the iPhone and Apple iPad tablets we're seeing high demand for - and broad adoption of AirPrint printing support across an increasing number of manufacturers and models as AirPrint wireless printer support becomes widely adopted. It's become a 'Must-Have' checklist item in most wireless printers these days across all price ranges.
Brother Printer AirPrint Support
Brother offers several MultiFunction AOI-MFP inkjet models with direct, built in iPad printing. The MFC-J5910DW, MFC-J835DW, MFC-J825DW, MFC-J625DW, MFC-J435W, MFC-J430W, MFC-J425W, and MFC-J280W currently have AirPrint support. At this time none of their laser printers offer this.
iOS AirPrint Printing For Canon Printers
If you want to print photos from your iPad to a Canon wireless printer, a Canon application called Easy Photo-Print for iPhone is available. Unfortuantely, the app will only print photos, not text dcuments or web pages - its strictly for pictures.
iPad Printing On Epson Printers
If you use most models of an Epson printer, you can print from your iPad using the Epson iPrint application. Initially released for the iPod, iPrint can now be used with an iPad over a WiFi connection. Epson users can download iPrint at no cost from the Apple App Store.
Lexmark Wireless Printer iPad Solutions
Lexmark printer users can use a iPad print app named "Air Sharing HD". The app costs $10 and is just Mac OSX. Air Sharing HD does not access files straight from your iPad. Rather, the app communicates with an email account to print your documents. You can email an iPad document to yourself and then open it in Air Sharing HD to print. Lexmark users can also purchase a $3 direct printing app called ePrint. Again, this one is for Mac users only.
Additional AirPrint Supported Programs
eCamm's Printopia App
eCamm has a neat solution for any functional Mac printer setup: If your Mac can print to it, Printopia will share it whether your printer is directrly connected or plugged into your AirPort or Time Capsule. Printopia acts as a 'Bridge' and translates for your printer, allowing it to serve print requests from your iPhone or iPad even -- if it's not an AirPrint-compatible printer. Printopia even supports many password-protected printers. There are also iPad printing applications is PrintCentral, by EuroSmartz or Print Magic by Wellala for $7 USD. This app will print from any printer, including a PC over a wireless connection. PrintCentral costs USD $10 dollars at the App Store and allows you to print web pages, text, graphics, images, and contacts.
